Military Service

Representative Holmes joined the Navy in July of 1990 and was stationed at Naval Air Station, Glenview, IL after completion of Boot camp and technical school. While stationed at Glenview, Mitch spent almost two years "on loan" to NTC, Great Lakes, IL. While at these two commands, he had the "privilege" of helping close two Personnel Support Detachments during the downsizing of the military in the early '90s.

Honors include accelerated advancement, Naval Achievement Medal, Expert with .45 caliber pistol and Good Conduct.

After being out of the military for a long while, he decided to join the Kansas Air National Guard as an intelligence specialist. It is an honor to Representative Holmes to wear his country's uniform.
